We are Peg and Jim Healy. We met at school in 1961 and married in 1963. We are the proud parents of a daughter and four sons. We are graced with nine grandchildren. We raised our children in Scouting programs. Our daughter is a Girl Scout Gold Award holder, and all four of our sons honored us by becoming Eagle Scouts. We have both been honored with Scouting’s Silver Beaver award. Jim was honored by the Northeast Region, BSA, with the Silver Antelope Award. We lived professional, landlubber lives in New Jersey, Indiana and New York. We are retired from careers in the computer business (Jim) and medical field (Peg).
Our interest in boating and cruising continually increased as we cruised for several summers, with family, on the Chesapeake Bay. We bought our Sanctuary in June, 2004, and moved aboard in September, 2004. We sold our land home in the Catskill Mountains of New York in June, 2005. We have cruised (as of summer, 2019) 56K miles aboard Sanctuary. Our cruising experiences include several “migrations” north and south on the US East Coast Intracoastal Waterway (A-ICW), several excursions of the Hudson River and the NYS Canal System, the Great Loop (including the Chambly Canal, Rideau Canal and Trent-Severn Waterway of Canada), the northern Bahamas, and in 2012, coastal New England and Maine. We have enjoyed cruising Florida’s Okeechobee Waterway and Florida Bay. At last count, we had transited 550 locks. Jim likes the big locks; Peg, not so much.
Today, we most enjoy cruising, particularly summer cruising with our grandchildren. Jim continues lifelong interests in all things mechanical and electrical, and in computer technology. Peg pursues her life-long interest in reading fiction, and enjoys scrap-booking and creating hand-made greeting cards.
